Agnus Dei Cooperative is an "a la carte" style program, which means that you can select the classes that you wish to sign up for in your child's grade level; you can sign up for all available classes or just one class.
Please note: Students must be placed in classes based on their current grade as reported for the school year. Children with special learning needs will be placed where the parents and teachers believe they would be most comfortable and able to participate.
Pre-K/K Class: Mrs. Katherine Vulaj (ages 3-5*)

Using tools from the Montessori Method, children will learn about their Catholic faith through independent “works” in the classroom. We will also meet during circle time to talk about a new prayer and saint each month, and a new letter each week.
A list will go out so families can sign up to provide snacks for the class each week.
Please provide: any allergies, and a folder for your child.
*Children must be potty trained and have turned 3 years old before the classes begin in September.

National Parks, Hike & Learn: Mrs. Jennifer DePonceau (Grades K-2)
Grab your bag and passport (we will be making these in class) as we take a hike through some of America’s beautiful National Parks. We will learn about several National Parks including their location as well as other fun facts. As we hike and learn, we will get our passports stamped and move on.
Our “hikes” will be in and around the classroom to get warmed up for the journey. Don’t worry, we will have a map, so we won’t get lost! And don’t forget your bag*… we may find or make special treasures to put in it.
*We will decorate a canvas tote bag in the first class for our treasures!

Prayer & Storytime: Mrs. Heather Hoffman (Grades K-2)

Twelve years ago, my friend's children began calling me, "The Book Lady," because I would pass along my collection of more than 2,000 children's books to them. I joke that the one thing I'm good at is praying. So .... come join the prayerful, fun (and educational 😀) class, Prayer & Storytime with the Book Lady (aka Mrs. Hoffman)!
We'll pray, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, stretch or dance, read, color/draw, and have a snack. Book suggestions are welcome.
Students will provide: a folder and a healthy snack*

Liturgical Art: Mrs. Anne Rychlik (Grades K-2)

In this class we will embrace the rhythms of the church through art in order to help us live the liturgical seasons, celebrate holy days, and observe feast days. We will also learn about prayers, monthly devotions, Marian apparitions, saints, and more!
Our projects will involve crafting, painting and sometimes feast inspired snacks (please let me know of any food allergies so I can accommodate). For example, the month of October is the month of the Rosary. We will learn how to pray the rosary and what the mysteries mean as we craft our own handmade rosaries.
The purpose of this class is not only to have a better understanding of our faith, but to learn how to live the faith every day.

In this class, students will be introduced to the natural world through observation, exploration, and experimentation. From Oobleck to balloon-powered racecars, we will use the scientific method to answer the “why’s” we have.

Tour a Country: Mrs. Jennifer Calabrese (Grades 3-4)
This class will travel through multiple countries and look at cultures, geography, native animals and historical people. We will use mapping skills and share in some country-specific cuisine.

Farm School 3/4: Mrs. Jessica Cain (Grades 3-4)
Farm School class promotes thinking about the homestead or farm as a complete ecosystem. It highlights problem solving on the farm by asking the question, "What is God's way to solve this problem?"
This leads us to learning about permaculture and a sustainable approach to animal husbandry, growing food, and managing pests. Sometimes, there are surprise animal visitors in this class!

Caldecott Book Study: Mrs. Heather Hoffman (Grades 3-4)
Caldecott books are recognized for their illustrations and have been awarded since 1938. In this class, we will read and discuss these pieces of literature over time and how pictures influence storytelling.
The students will also write and illustrate their own piece. We will pray and have a snack as well.
Students need to supply: Writing and coloring utensils; a notebook and/or a sketchpad; and a healthy snack to share (a weekly snack sign-up sheet will be used).

Road Trip USA: Mrs. Donna Seaman (Grades 3-4)
Join us as we travel around the USA! In our first class, we will learn about the US flag and the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, which we will recite at the beginning of each class. We will begin our journey across the country in the second class, learning about New York state and the Erie Canal.
This will be a fun way to explore the history of our country, from the Boston Tea Party and the start of the American Revolution, to sled dogs and the great serum race during the diphtheria outbreak in 1920s Alaska. Each week, we will travel to a new state, read a historical book about the state, and record important information we have learned.

Through the Eyes of a Vet: Mrs. Jennifer Calabrese (Grades 5-6)
In this class, we will learn how to problem solve like a veterinarian and apply what we learn. We will go over medical terminology and see what a typical day for looks like for a veterinarian.
We will cover animals from cats all the way to monkeys. Using science (biology/anatomy), language arts (noting taking, communication, and reading comprehension) and more, your children will have clear view of a veterinarian’s skills and expertise.

New York State History: Mrs. Donna Seaman (Grades 5-6)
*This class satisfies the NYS Regulation requiring your child to learn about NYS history at least once between grades 1-8.
In learning about the history of New York State, your student will research a variety of topics, including geography, land mapping, historical figures, Native Americans, state symbols and icons, the state seal, and historic landmarks.
We will also learn about important historical events throughout the years, from early European exploration through modern times.

Exploring the Acts of the Apostles (The Birth of the Early Church): Mrs. Jessica Cain (Grades 5-6)
Students will explore the key themes of mission, community, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the expansion of the early Christian church.
The class will include close reading on specific apostles, discussions of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, study of the historical climate and some key teachings of Christ that spring-boarded the Apostle's work (such as the Beatitudes). The course examines the lives and ministries of central figures such as Peter and Paul.
The students will create several projects in class including a "Life of Christ" bracelet and a lapbook.

Crochet Class: Mrs. Mary Dunning (Grades 5-9)
Please talk to your child about his or her interest in taking this class before registering.
This class will be a mixed crochet class combining both beginning and advanced students.
Beginner students: For the beginners, we will go over the tools you use, learn the 5 most common stitches, and start to read and understand a pattern. Some of our projects will include stuffed animals, a hat, a dishcloth, and much more.
Intermediate/Advanced students: We will continue the progress from last year, but learn more complicated stitches, and start making a more elaborate items. We will work on items such as larger stuffed animals, a granny square sweater, and learn how to make and attach appliques.
Supplies needed: a pair of small scissors, a soft sided pencil case, and a project bag big enough to fit your pencil case and yarn.
** The yarn, hooks, stuffing and stitch markers will be supplied. **

US Constitution & Government: Mrs. Donna Seaman (Grades 7-9)
*This class satisfies the NYS Regulation requiring your child to learn about the US Constitution at least once between grades 1-8.
We will study the US Constitution to learn more about its history and how the Constitution affects individuals, communities, and states today. To do this properly, we will start our course with an overview of the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation.
We will learn about the three branches of our government, and the rights and responsibilities of each branch. This will include discussions about good citizenship and what that looks like for each one of us.
This course immerses students in the lives of the Founding Fathers, as well as the important events and documents that formed America’s government. With each lesson, students will gain a deeper understanding of the principles that guided those who founded America’s Republic, including justice, liberty, duty, and equality.
*There will be some homework assignments.

Beauty, Truth & Goodness: Mrs. Jessica Cain (Grades 7-9)
Beauty, Truth & Goodness is a class that immerses the students in art, poetry, classical literature, Christian virtues... and good tea! There will be opportunities to frequent the theater and orchestra on field trips as a group.

Chef Class: Mrs. Mary Dunning (Grades 7-9)
We’re inviting you to step into the shoes of a professional, walking through “a day in the life” of a chef and picking up real-world techniques along the way. Whether your student dreams of culinary school or just wants to level up their kitchen game, this class is an interactive way to get started.
We will be using the kitchen and cooking on a regular basis; ingredients will be provided. Some items we will be making are compound butters, sauces, risotto, and poached eggs.
Students will learn essential knife skills, palate development, culinary artistry, texture and taste awareness, plating and presentation, and how to work through a recipe.
