A cooperative offers your children an in-class environment for learning with other children. Agnus Dei Homeschool Cooperative is not a school. Our center will be open one day a week (on Wednesdays) during the school year, and our classes will supplement, not replace, homeschooling.
You do not have to be Catholic to participate in Agnus Dei Cooperative. However, this learning center is unapologetically Catholic. What that means is that we will not compromise the Catholic identity of the cooperative. Catholic prayers will be in practice and we will uphold the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. In addition, students will learn about church history, sacraments, and the Catholic saints that have helped in the building of the faith.
Co-op costs: There is a Registration Fee of $15 per family for each session to help cover the costs of cleaning supplies and paper products.
Class costs: Each teacher assigns a cost for his or her class based on compensating for time and anticipated expenses. We have tried our best to keep this cooperative affordable for all families. The cost listed with each class description is the cost per student for the entire session, not the cost per week or per month. We do not offer refunds.
In addition to the class cost, we ask all families to make a goodwill donation to St Peter & St Bernard Parish for graciously hosting our group. We do not pay the parish a lease or any utilities, so this offering is a way to compensate for using the facilities. The goodwill donation will be collected at the end of each session. Each family is encouraged to donate. The suggested donation is $50 per family.
Payment is due on Orientation Day, which is one week before classes begin each session. Please check the calendar for this date.
Full payment for classes is due on this day. ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE EXACT AND IN CASH (we will not be able to make change). Our teachers will be paid on this date which is why we need all payments.
Our cooperative runs two sessions per school year, which are similar to college semesters. The Fall Session runs from September to December, and the Spring Session runs from January to May.
Our day begins at 9:00 am. Each class is 50 minutes with a 5-minute break between classes.
The full schedule is:
Period 1: 9:00 am - 9:50 am
Period 2: 9:55 am - 10:45 am
Period 3: 10:50 am - 11:40 am
Period 4: 11:45 am - 12:35 pm
At some point in the future, we may add clubs. If you are interested in beginning and moderating a club, please contact us.
No, this is not a drop-off program. Parents must bring their children into the building and stay on the premises. You can make arrangements to have another adult bring your children to class, but then they must stay on the premises. We do have a couple of gathering spaces for parents to wait.
If you would like to run out to grab a coffee or run a nearby errand, you can ask another adult to "stand in" for you. There will be a sign-out sheet where you can list the name of the parent who will be standing in for you in your absence.
Exception: Middle School students (grades 7-9) may be dropped off, so long as they are dropped off when their classes start and picked up when they are finished.
We have a family room with toys and books available in the school for parents and siblings to wait.
In addition, there is a nice gathering space in the front portion of the school building that can also accommodate parents and siblings. We will have tables set up if you would like to use the time for homeschooling. Please be sure to clean up and leave all spaces as you found them.
